"SoL"
My name is Solansh Carbonel but my friends and family call me "Sol", and I´m 21 years old. I´m a very sociable and honest person. That´s the reason I don´t like it when someone tries to tell me a lie. I have one sister "Michelle" and one brother "Diego". I am writing this essay to describe my life in my home country and my new home New York.
I was born in Peru but I grew up with my mother in Caracas, Venezuela, which is located in the North West part of South America between Colombia and Guyana. Then, when I was 7 years old, I moved to Peru with my grandparents because the education is better than in Venezuela. However, my mother continued her business in Venezuela so I was really angry and solitary for almost 3 years. Then, when I turned 10, my mother traveled to Peru to spend her vacation with me. Afterward, I graduated from a police high school in my home country and I visited so many beautiful place, and now I have more knowledge about the history of Peru.
Peru is located on the central coast of South America, in the center of Ecuador and Colombia to the north, Brazil to the east, Bolivia and Chile to the south and the Pacific Ocean to the west. My home country contains 25 departments and each has a different culture and some of them have more than 2 different languages. I lived in Lima; the capital that is located in the central coast of Peru. Lima is considered "the city of the kings" because Lima is alive during the days and nights, and has more than 50 museums famous for their gold and silver.
Now, I had lived in New York since 2008 and I love it because I have a job only on weekends and I´m in the CLIP program at QCC on the weekdays. I live with my mother, my stepfather and "Shark" (my little dog) in Flushing. I have a boyfriend whose name is Oscar De Leon, the same as the famous salsa singer from Venezuela. It is very funny because sometimes when we go outside and we need to show ID, some people say "oh!! Oscar De Leon!” and after that we always laugh. He studies ESL at La Guardia College and works in the JFK airport. I love my boyfriend because he always supports me in my difficult moments and helps me any time. We grew up every day together. it is amazing because we are from different countries, he is Colombian, so his culture is more open than mine, so sometimes we have problems for that but always we learn more about each others customs.
For my future, I´m planning to finish computer sciences degree at college. When i graduate, I hope find a better job. However, I dream of finding a job where I could create a new operative system like Microsoft Windows and make history in science. On the other hand, my mother and Oscar always tells me how delicious the food that I cook is and they always try to persuade me to study to be a chef. I'm not sure that at this moment but I love cook, maybe I could do it. In my relationship with my boyfriend, Oscar and I are planning get married and have a child , and when we have a financial stability, we´ll help our families.
